To say life was shit right now would definitely be a lie. My job and sole purpose was to keep Charli safe, to watch over her and make sure no harm came her way for whatever reason.

I’ve known for a while now, maybe even from the time I agreed to this job, that Charli was more to me than that.

I lightly trace my fingertips against the skin on her bare shoulder, noticing a few freckles lightly dotted across her skin; perfect imperfections. The room was dark but I could still see her under the faint glow of the moon. Her lashes brushing against her cheek as she sleeps blissfully against me.
